Lasers for
Your Skin

Simply put, lasers use specific light waves to carefully target structures in the skin such as capillaries, pigmented spots, oil glands, hair follicles, and damaged collagen in wrinkles or scars. Precancerous lesions and some skin cancers may also be addressed using laser light. Here at GPD, we offer the best in laser technology and continue to employ the latest devices to treat your skin safely, comfortably, with little to no down time.

The science and art of laser treatment depends on a thorough knowledge of skin structure, wave dynamics, and cell biology: your treatment at GPD will only be performed by one of our board certified physicians. Specific pre and post laser skin care regimens, as well as test sites on small areas, are often recommended to optimize your skin’s response. Furthermore, our lasers have been thoroughly vetted by clinical trials, FDA trials, and by us.

Our current armamentarium includes:

PICOSURE PICOSECOND LASER FOR SKIN REJUVENATION AND TATTOO REMOVAL
Gramercy Park Dermatology is excited to offer this breakthrough technology to remove unwanted pigment and to treat fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. PicoSure gently delivers short bursts (a trillionth of a second!) of energy to target problem areas, without the typical discomfort and downtime.

This non-invasive procedure is excellent for brown spots, sun damage, freckles, pigmented lesions, wrinkles or acne scars, as well as the removal of tattoos. The picosecond technology allows superior treatment of tattoo ink with visible improvement after several treatments.

V-BEAM PERFECTA
A pulsed dye laser directed at small blood vessels to treat capillaries, rosacea, red and raised scars, inflammatory acne, spider veins, angiomas. The newest modification targets pigmented spots as well

INTENSE PULSED LIGHT (IPL)
A broad spectrum beam of light that serves as a multi-tasking alternative to traditional lasers which are limited to one specific wavelength. This is an excellent choice for sun damaged skin since it addresses multiple targets at once: “liver spots”, capillaries, freckles, and mottling.

FRACTIONATED CO2
The CO2 laser remains the gold standard for skin rejuvenation, and “fractionating” the delivery of the beam now allows faster healing and an increased safety profile. Laser energy ablates the epidermis and is deposited in a series of narrow columns leading to tight, new orchestrated collagen. Fine lines and wrinkles, vertical lip lines around the mouth, and horizontal lines under the eyes are just a few of the areas addressed by CO2. Incisional lines, traumatic scars, and burn scars also do very well with this technology.

PELLEVÉ RADIO FREQUENCY WRINKLE REDUCTION
Pellevé, which is FDA cleared to be safe and effective for the treatment of wrinkles, uses radio frequency (RF) waves to gently heat deep layers of the skin, encouraging the natural growth of new collagen over time.

Unlike laser or CO2 resurfacing, there is no risk to sun exposure following treatments and patients can return to norma activities immediately. "The Pellevé treatment is a great non-invasive, virtually painless way to revitalize the skin, and can be customized based on the patients' needs from full face treatment to targeting smaller areas. Pellevé treatments typically range from 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the area treated.

In FDA clinical trials, nearly 90% of patients retained photographic improvement at 6 months following treatment, and 85% of patients reported overall satisfaction in skin's laxity, smoothness, and brightness.

FRAXEL RESTORE 1550/1927NM DUAL
The Fraxel restore laser uses advanced "fractional" technology to treat sun-damaged skin with minimal downtime. Laser energy is delivered in microscopic columns that penetrate deep into the skin, targeting damaged skin cells and collagen.

A series of 3-5 treatments will result in significant improvement of skin texture and tone with minimal downtime. Additionally, brown spots or solar lentigos are removed and fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes are reduced. Fraxel is also an effective treatment for contour differences because of acne or surgical scars. Medically, the 1927nm of Fraxel is FDA approved for field treatment of actinic keratoses, or precancerous spots. The Fraxel laser is FDA approved, safe for all skin types and skin colors, and may be used on most areas of the body.

NEODYNIUM-YAG LASER
This is an 1064nm laser that may be used to address vascular defects such as spider veins and larger reticular veins. Small red vessels can usually be removed in 1 to 3 sessions where several sessions may be necessary to remove bigger veins.

LIGHT SHEER DUET FOR LASER HAIR REMOVAL
This is an 810nm diode laser designed to increase the speed and efficiency of laser hair removal. The laser’s larger HS handpiece uses vacuum-assisted technology to improve the efficiency of energy delivery to the hair follicle while minimizing pain. Due to the larger treatment window, this laser can treat the legs within only 15 minutes, underarms within 5 minutes and doesn’t require messy gels or numbing creams. The energy level in this laser is extremely broad and can thus be used to treat all skin types safely.
